Stuff We’ve Made
Always remember that as long as your print size, color, and location is the same, you can mix and match your apparel. That means within the same order you can print on any number of different colors and styles of t-shirts. So mix it up! Throw in some tanks or sweatshirts in your order for style variations or pick out a few different apparel colors to give variety to your design.
Where Would You Like Your Print?
The most interesting and eye-catching screen printed t-shirts have multiple print locations. We always recommend going beyond just a plain front-print-only t-shirt and adding your logo, name, or accent graphic elsewhere on your tee. For other garments like hoodies, sweatpants, towels, bags, etc. we have specific print locations, but here’s where we print on tees:
The ideal size for a large, bold graphic. Recommended print size if only printing on one side.
A smaller front print….
Pocket/Left Chest Print
We can print on a shirt pocket, directly above it, or where a pocket would be placed on a pocket-less tee. We recommend printing your logo here if you are interested on doing a full back graphic.
An ideal location for logos, dates, event names, numbers and accent graphics. Can be paired with any other print and can print one or both sleeves. We are also able to print down the sleeves of long sleeve t-shirts and hoodies.
When printing names or words like “staff” or “volunteer”, the standard location is this shoulders print. Popular neck print designs include single-color logos and QR codes.
Almost always full back prints are combined with chest prints or pocket prints. It is very common to keep the front of a t-shirt simple with just a logo and do big, full color graphics on the back.
This print is located a few inches above the shirt seam and stretches from hip to hip. For those that don’t want the same old shoulders print, we suggest printing here for a more interesting and memorable t-shirt.
Either one side or both, this print runs where your arms naturally hang or we can position your design to be wrapped around a side of the body.
Have a print location idea in mind but don’t see it here? Contact us and let’s talk. We’re always interested in trying new and interesting printing ideas.
Printing Techniques and Inks
This is the most common ink used in the screen printing industry. Plastisol ink lays on top of the garment and provides a vibrant, solid and lasting print. We stock this standard ink in a wide variety of colors as well as offer custom pantone ink color matching.
Water base inks are eco-friendly and water soluble. The ink absorbs to the fibers of the garment achieving a soft hand touch. Water base inks are considered premium and desirable for achieving a high end look.
Discharge ink is a water based product that is formulated by adding an activator to the ink in order to remove the dye from the fabric, almost as if you were “bleaching” away the color of the shirt in order to “re-dye” the fabric with the ink we print on top.. Discharge works best on natural fabrics such as 100% cotton.
These inks are infused with small particles to create a shimmer look. They are great for creating a foil or glitter imitation.
We stock the standard neon ink colors- pink, orange, yellow, green, blue- as well as a reflective ink that is used on garments such as safety work uniforms.
Mixing a puff additive with your base plastisol ink adds dimension and texture to your custom print. We were able to replicate a classic New York subway tile sign on these shirts. (picture of Hay Merchant shirt)
This is the method used by printers to re-create photo realistic images on a t-shirt. 4-color process utilizes standard CMYK colors blended together through the use of halftone dots to create a full spectrum of color.
